How the calculation works
Today's monthly expenses are inflated to retirement. Retirement spending is then projected year-by-year using the general inflation assumption. Other retirement income is also grown with inflation. The required corpus is the present value at retirement of the resulting net withdrawals plus the desired terminal corpus. The projected corpus is built from the current retirement investments plus a monthly SIP that increases annually by the selected step-up rate.
